Choosing a memorial for a child or baby is one of the hardest things a family ever does. These are some of the children’s headstones we have made – teddy bears holding hearts, stars and moons, steam trains, castles and hand-painted designs – each carved by hand in our own factory. Any of them can be made in another size or colour, or we can create something completely personal.

Teddy bear, heart and star headstones
Teddy bears are the most requested design for a child’s grave. They can hold a heart, a star or a book, peep over the top of the stone or sit beside it. The bear is usually carved in grey granite against a polished black heart, so the inscription stands out clearly.
Smaller sizes for children’s sections
Many cemeteries have a children’s or baby section with smaller size limits. We make every design to the size your cemetery allows, and can add matching vases, kerbs and a small book or plaque.
Colour and photos
Designs can be hand-painted in colour, or a favourite photo, toy or drawing can be laser etched into the black granite.
Granite, size and lettering
Most of our memorials are made in Premium Khammam Ebony Black from our own quarry, which takes a deep mirror polish. They can also be made in Blue Pearl, Bahama Blue, South African Grey, red and green granites – see all granite colours. Cemeteries and churchyards set their own rules on height, width, shape and colour – lawn sections and children’s sections are often stricter. Check with your memorial mason before you choose, and we’ll make the memorial to fit.

Questions families ask
What size can a child’s headstone be?
It depends on the cemetery. Children’s and baby sections usually allow smaller memorials than adult graves. Your memorial mason will check the rules and we make the headstone to fit.
Can a teddy bear headstone be made in a different colour?
Yes. The bear is often grey granite with a black heart, but we can carve it in other granites or paint it in colour.
Can you make Disney or cartoon characters?
Yes. We carve and paint favourite characters such as Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Mickey Mouse and Monsters Inc – ask your memorial mason or call us. Some cemeteries limit colours, so check first.
Can you add a photo or a child’s drawing?
Yes. We can laser etch a photo or drawing into polished black granite, or paint a design in colour.
How long does a children’s headstone take?
Made-to-order designs take 11 weeks on average. Some popular children’s designs are in stock in Manchester.
